The Atelier

LEVEL is the design practice of Léa Ermuth, a Zurich-based product designer working across ceramics and jewelry. Founded in 2024, LEVEL investigates the relationship between material, process and form, combining traditional techniques with digital fabrication methods.

With a Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Léa integrates 3D modelling and computational tools into her creative process to develop new material expressions. The ceramic works are handcrafted in her Zurich studio, while the jewelry is produced in close collaboration with specialised Portuguese artisans. Her practice is informed by a strong interest in material behaviours, industrial processes, and the nuances that arise from working with and against production constraints.

Through iterative experimentation, she explores how accidents, irregularities and hybrid processes can become essential design tools. Rather than striving for perfection, her work foregrounds tactility, transformation, and the histories embedded in matter. The resulting pieces are intended as open-ended objects that invite interpretation, shifting between sculptural and functional, refined and raw, bodily and architectural. Each piece is anchored in a precise yet unconventional approach to contemporary object-making.
